Yard Waste as an Opportunity
In the past five years, Hong Kong generated an average of 180 tonnes of yard waste per day. At Prince Edward Flower Market, one of the biggest plant markets in Hong Kong, yard waste collects daily from wasted plants, off-cuts, and unsold merchandise. This project sees yard “waste” as an urban resource to redesign for new use and interaction with human behavior. The designed mobile workshop supports adapted paper pulp molding techniques, explores the design possibilities of repurposing an under-utilized resource ecosystem for new use.
