四點設計 Contact to SHIMOKITAZAWA inspire for cooperation

The neighborhood of Shimokitazawa has recently gone through drastic changes to create a new 26-meter wide road, Route 54. The area affected by this planned zoning is being vacated. As time goes by, the old neighborhood will be forgotten, and it will become “just another road.” In the past, people in Shimokitazawa protested this plan, gathering and uniting when the station market was demolished. Just like the market, every part of Shimokitazawa is filled with people’s memories and stories. Can we not cherish them until the new route is created? To make this inevitable change more accommodating and preserve some of the charm of Shimokitazawa, I suggest a unique method, “KAITAI.” Rather than acting abruptly, “KAITAI” would transform and remove buildings over a span of 10 years. “KAITAI” will create new spaces where people can create new memories every day.

人は歪んでいる

Humans are distorted. This distortion occurs when one is hurt or dissatisfied. Young girls today suffer from anxiety. When that anxiety comes to the surface, it becomes distortion. I came up with three categories of human beings with distortion: “Honest” - those who display their distortion. “Silent” - those who keep their distortion within themselves. “Deceitful” - those who disguise their true self behind something they like. I also reflected on myself and expressed my own distortion. What I expressed through my designs: Honesty, in which the twisted mind and its pain are exposed for all to see. Silence, in which strong emotions quietly surge. Deceitfulness, displayed by those who cover themselves in what they like (e.g. stickers and tattoos), and can be seen as immature. I am a mixture of silent and deceitful.
