“Invisible Fish View” shows the daily life of Jiaoxi’s hot spring fish. They only see feet, but every day is fun and fulfilling. See the world from a fish’s eyes!

In the picture book’s pages, the hot spring fish love feet with lots of dead skin to nibble on. If the skin is too smooth, fewer fish gather around. "On this picture book page, the hot spring fish nibble on the dead skin of the guests while chatting about which guest has more to eat and which one has too little." "In this picture book page, the hot spring fish keep chatting about the guests who visited that day even after the spa has closed." "In this picture book page, the hot spring fish greet the arriving guests in the pool every day, ready to begin another fulfilling day."

ReNutri

Industrial Design, National Cheng Kung University

ReNutri integrates environmental protection into everyday life through an intuitive and hygienic urban food waste recycling system and a drying bin. Designed to fit users’ daily habits, it encourages greater participation in food waste recycling, returning waste to the ecological cycle and contributing to a greener future where both people and the environment benefit. Food waste is a reusable resource. However, according to the Ministry of Environment, over 60% of food waste in 2023 did not enter effective recycling systems. Around 800,000 tons were sent to landfills or incinerators each year. The high moisture content of food waste reduces incineration efficiency and may produce harmful substances, leading to environmental pollution, higher treatment costs, and wasted resources. Although many cities are promoting food waste recycling, issues such as poor sorting, limited processing methods, and difficulty in changing user habits continue to hinder effective reuse. ReNutri targets environmentally conscious individuals constrained by time and convenience. We offer a food waste recycling service that fits daily routines. After subscribing to the service, users receive a dehumidifying drying bin for home use. Once full, the dried waste can be conveniently dropped off at automated recycling machines located at partner supermarkets during weekend shopping trips. Food waste from users and supermarkets is then transported to ReNutri recycling centers, where it is sorted and handed over to black soldier fly biotech companies for conversion into insect meal and frass, which are sold to farmers and aquaculture businesses. Users earn points for every drop-off, redeemable for supermarket products and viewable in the app along with their personal carbon reduction data.
