Xiao Xiao, born with a distinctive birthmark on his face, accidentally stumbles into a mysterious village while searching for medicinal herbs. Due to a sudden change in the weather, the village chief allows him to stay overnight. However, in the dead of night, he is ensnared by eerie tree roots and led to a grotesque tree with a human-like face that seeps blood.
Upon touching the trunk, Xiao Xiao is pulled into visions of the past: the villagers, in a desperate attempt to quell a plague, once conspired with an evil monk to sacrifice innocent young boys. Their remains were buried beneath the tree, which eventually grew into the blood-soaked, human-faced tree.
Even more horrifying, the bloodstains from that time bear an uncanny resemblance to the birthmark on Xiao Xiao’s face. He comes to the shocking realization that he is the reincarnation of the evil monk. Possessed by the vengeful spirit of a sacrificed boy, Xiao Xiao is controlled by the tree’s roots, exhumes the buried remains, and exacts revenge upon the villagers.
In the end, the sins of the past are brought to justice. The cycle of bloodshed and sacrifice comes full circle, culminating in a final act of retribution—a grim “returning sacrifice.”

Leaping Cigarette
