They Are Watching is a hybrid physical-digital interactive game centered on the issue of battery-caged egg-laying hens. Combining physical cards, digital endings, and exhibition-based interaction, the project transforms the often-invisible structural oppression within animal welfare issues into game rules that players can directly experience.
Rather than positioning players as passive observers, the game places them within a system of choices, limitations, and information gaps. Through this process, players gradually experience the characters’ loss of agency and are invited to reconsider the relationship between humans, farmed animals, and social systems.
LUMOS-Adaptive Bloom Aroma Lamp
Department of Industrial Design, Chaoyang University of Technology
With the widespread adoption of smart lighting, lamps are no longer just illumination devices, but rather living spaces that can influence emotions and atmosphere. In fact, the atmosphere of a space often affects a person's mood and state of mind.
Lumos, inspired by the blooming of flowers, aims to combine technology and emotion to design a smart floor lamp that understands the user's state and responds to emotional changes.
The product can connect with smart wearable devices via an app, instantly identifying stress, fatigue, and heart rate changes, and automatically adjusting the lighting and fragrance combination. When tired, warm light and soothing scents help with relaxation; when focused, cool light and fresh scents enhance efficiency. The lamp can also be customized with focus, bedtime, and stress-relieving modes to help establish a healthier lifestyle. The lampshade uses a flower as its core image; when activated, the petals slowly unfold, symbolizing a sense of belonging and being welcomed and cared for, making the product a therapeutic device that combines functionality and emotional warmth.
