Mountain Reader

Department of Cultural Creativity and Digital Media Design, Lunghwa University of Science and Technology

Taiwan is a mountainous island, yet its mountains often feel distant in everyday life. Mountain Reading uses books as a medium, selecting six representative Taiwanese peaks to transform mountain layers and reading rhythms into a flip-through lighting object. Through layered paper, typographic composition, and the interplay of light and shadow, reading becomes a way to experience the mountains. The light subtly shifts throughout the day, echoing the changing atmosphere of real mountain landscapes. This design conveys the imagery of illuminating Taiwan’s mountain landscapes, inviting people to rediscover their presence in everyday life. In an age of constant information and fast-paced living, it offers a moment to slow down and reconnect with nature.
