Taiwan is a mountainous island, yet its mountains often feel distant in everyday life.

Mountain Reading uses books as a medium, selecting six representative Taiwanese peaks to transform mountain layers and reading rhythms into a flip-through lighting object. Through layered paper, typographic composition, and the interplay of light and shadow, reading becomes a way to experience the mountains. The light subtly shifts throughout the day, echoing the changing atmosphere of real mountain landscapes.

This design conveys the imagery of illuminating Taiwan’s mountain landscapes, inviting people to rediscover their presence in everyday life. In an age of constant information and fast-paced living, it offers a moment to slow down and reconnect with nature.

Inspired by six Taiwanese mountains, the series combines book structures and light to express unique mountain landscapes. The inner pages combine Taiwanese mountain imagery with layered paper structures and visual compositions to create an immersive reading experience. Through layered structures and light, the work creates atmospheric mountain scenery and a quiet reading experience. All works are stored within the book shell; when closed, it remains a flat book form, and when opened, it transforms into a layered lightscape, shifting between “book” and “lamp”

SurgiCount : Surgical Instrument Counting Assist System

Department of Industrial Design, National Taipei University of Technology, Taipei Tech

This system assists surgical instrument and material counting through hand motion recognition. It deconstructs common counting actions into trackable units, reducing errors caused by human lapses, and provides functions tailored to users involved in handling instruments at different stages of the workflow.
