Beneath the bright yellow skin lies the extinction of countless genetic varieties. The playful curve belies a history steeped in bloodshed. The sweet flesh, like women in those cultures, has been crushed, pulped, and violated into the blurred, forgotten shape it holds today. Perhaps bananas were never meant to be this way — or perhaps they never truly became it, because no one has ever peeled back that thick skin to let the flesh inside tell its own story.

Gukeng Coffee Showdown is a physical Monopoly-style board game that combines experiential education with cultural heritage. To break through the public's superficial understanding of specialty coffee, this project abandons traditional, one-way coffee repackaging. Instead, it translates Gukeng's industry context, climate variables, and agricultural challenges directly into the game itself.
Players take on the role of estate managers, experiencing the hard-won journey of producing a great cup of coffee through resource allocation and risk management. Visually, the design introduces "Soft Functionalism", replacing realism with abstract geometry. This visual "white space" symbolizes the subjective perception of flavor. Through the gameplay experience, we hope players will rediscover local culture in their exploration and ultimately find their own perfect cup of "good coffee".
