Silhouettes of Time is a warm yet bittersweet animated short about a traditional barbershop, “Ah-Chun Barber Shop,” standing quietly amid a changing era. Each morning, the elderly barber watches young customers choose modern salons, hiding a quiet sense of loss. One day, a nervous boy named Xiao Bao enters, and through gentle care and conversation, Ah-Chun helps him relax, bringing life back into the shop. As time passes, the mirror reflects the stories of different customers—from youth to old age—capturing memories, change, and connection. One evening, a familiar yet unexpected visitor appears, evoking the past and leaving behind a silent understanding. Surrounded by a bustling city, the old shop remains, preserving the warmth of human bonds beyond the passage of time.

An unattended traditional barbershop. A trendy modern barbershop. Reminiscing about the days of serving customers in the past. Night falls.

Dispell

Digital Content Design, Ling Tung University

"Dispell" is a narrative-driven, third-person, single-player 3D action-adventure game that explores the fading traces of lives marginalized by the relentless march of modernization. Players step into the shoes of a medium wielding a mysterious ritual artifact, utilizing the core mechanics of "Absorbing" and "Throwing" to navigate anomaly zones and dispel "Thoughtforms"—creatures manifested from the collective memory of the city. The core gameplay revolves around these "Thoughtforms," which symbolize forgotten memories and suppressed emotions. By pacifying and absorbing them, players gain new abilities that alter their movement and environmental interaction, allowing them to solve intricate environmental puzzles. Inspired by Taiwanese and Malaysian cultures, the game weaves together elements of folk beliefs, urban sprawl, and environmental displacement. Through environmental storytelling focused on themes like "road development" and "roadkill," Dispell serves as a reflective medium for contemporary society. It prompts players to ponder the friction between technological progress and nature, as well as the overlooked memories and the cost of life hidden behind the veil of civilization.
