Urbanization fragments bird habitats, increasing the energy and risks of migration. As high-rise balconies become the primary green spaces for city dwellers, we apply the "ecological stepping stones" concept to transform them into vital way stations. ChirpPal leverages these vertical spaces to connect scattered urban greenery and restore fragmented ecological landscapes. Inspired by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, ChirpPal centers on native plants paired with flexible water and food trays to provide a bird-friendly habitat. A built-in camera and companion app allow users to observe visiting birds and seamlessly upload data to citizen science databases, aiding in ecological tracking. ChirpPal integrates responsible feeding and habitat creation into daily life, building secure stepping stones for birds while bringing vibrant natural landscapes to every balcony.
