Starting from the power structures and interactions shaped by the national borders drawn across today’s world map, we attempt to imagine an alternative form the world might take:
“If a nation were a constructed system, then its users would be its citizens. The fundamental units of the nation would instead be composed of stregions (adapted from ‘ethnic enclaves’). In this way, could the fluidity of borders fragment and lighten the scale of conflict? And how might relations between nations operate under such a system?”
Through the notes and visual records left behind by a resident living within the stregion of Alpha Formosa during his coming-of-age journey, the work invites viewers to experience the mechanisms of the world through a reciprocal perspective alongside him, and to reconsider the contemporary conditions shaped by the constant tensions between nations, and between states and their people.

Cold Blooded Monster

Crafts&Design Department, National Taiwan University of Arts

Driven by textual narrative and processed through an extensive translation of language into imagery, this project approaches the internal contradictions of the human psyche from a design perspective, utilizing sculpting techniques to materialize them into cold-blooded monsters. It draws the audience deep into the story, challenging them to view the narrative from diverse standpoints and to keep questioning a world where absolute right and wrong do not exist. Ultimately, it uses these conflicting and contradictory lenses to make people look back and reflect on their own reality.
