OUTSIDERS

Introduction

Our graduation exhibition theme, "Outsiders" (Boundary Star Journey), deeply explores the social framework of "mainstream versus margin." "Outsiders" represents minority groups or marginalized individuals, while the "boundary" symbolizes the invisible lines often drawn by societal prejudices—such as labels regarding age, body shape, personality, or sexual orientation. The "star journey" is not only a visualization of our space voyage but also a metaphor for the path ahead for graduates stepping into society. We hope to convey a core message: whether you are a minority on the boundary or someone walking the mainstream path, everyone can chart their own brilliant star journey.

The story is set in the vastness of space. The protagonist is an "obsolete robot" facing elimination, capable only of slow, hand-drawn art, serving as a metaphor for the marginalized in society. In contrast stands the "new-generation robot," equipped with highly efficient AI intelligence, symbolizing the mainstream standard of perfection. Through the space vehicle carrying them toward their final destination, we present the contrast and collision between the two. Within the animation, the obsolete robot undergoes a journey from being isolated and ostracized to ultimately being seen and appreciated by the public for the irreplaceable "warmth of hand-drawing."

Visually, the design utilizes bold, thick flat vector lines combined with a trendy Cyberpunk style to create a strong visual impact. Furthermore, this work integrates a public welfare perspective, aiming to be a voice for disadvantaged groups and delivering a gentle yet firm belief: "Everyone is born unique, and absolutely no one is superfluous or deserves to be eliminated."
