四點設計 Contact to (彡): The Hair of The New Discipline for cooperation

500

Hair used to be a boundary between power and faith: cut, grown, and disciplined. As a carrier of culture and discipline, could hair open dialogues of inclusion, conflict, and even reflection? Taking the Ming dynasty’s Bun and the Qing dynasty’s Braid (as enforced through the policy of The Queue and Manchu Clothing) as an example: during a time of political upheaval, if an individual were to retain both hairstyling symbols simultaneously, what kind of cultural identity or stance would they represent? What kind of demeanor would emerge from such a combination? Could this very act of overlap be seen as a visualization of disciplinary boundaries gradually losing their clarity?

“彡” (shān) is an organization that explores alternative perspectives and imaginations on hair. When boundaries dissolve, could we further embrace diversity? This project merges diverse hairstyling cultures through an alternative historical perspective, and explores the possibilities of hair under new forms of discipline.

Recovering the fragmented state of Atayal culture - the Knowledge Mutual Market

Department of Interior Design, Tainan University of Technology

The invisible culture of the Atayal people is gradually disappearing, tribal wisdom is marginalized, and traditional languages, weaving skills, and life knowledge are facing rupture and loss. The design takes the reuse of idle incinerators as an opportunity to transform them into symbols of consumption and ending, becoming a field that carries cultural memory and educational regeneration. Through space co-learning and learning to take care of each other, we promote intergenerational exchanges and enable the natural transmission of cultural experience. and uses Atayal weave texture to translate the space, shaping the intertwined and penetrating field relationship, making education a process of cultural regeneration, so that life wisdom and cultural memory can continue to grow.
